This two-semester program, similar to a college course, is designed to provide students with a basic operating knowledge of the procedural and technical aspects for accomplishing plan approval in the Northern Virginia land development process. These classes address all practical aspects of land development, often including interactive exercises. 

Note: Professionals must successfully complete both Semesters and the appropriate Jurisdictional Sequence(s) to establish DPE-eligibility. (Land Development Engineering classes do not qualify as PD Electives.)

Classes are held on Tuesdays from 3:30 - 6:30 pm in the ESI Chantilly classroom. If, on short notice, you are unable to attend a particular class, please DO NOT cancel your class enrollment. Semesters may be taken out of order. Classes address all practical aspects of land development, including interactive exercises, cooperative learning groups, and student-delivered content. Focus of these in-person sessions is to build networking relationships, further support public-private initiatives, and build a sense of shared community within northern Virginia's civil engineering community. 

Professionals must complete semester I, semester II, and the appropriate Jurisdictional sequence(s) to establish DPE or PRS eligibility. Land Development Engineering classes do not qualify as ESI's three, required PD Electives. 

Classes are typically held on Tuesdays from 3:30-6:30 pm in the ESI Chantilly classroom or virtually via ZOOM. Please note that some classes may not adhere to this schedule. Confirm dates and times for all classes before attending. Only one missed class is allowed. No credit for attendance awarded if more than 15 minutes late. If, on short notice, you are unable to attend a particular class, please DO NOT cancel your class enrollment. Clicking the enrollment cancellation button will cancel your entire semester enrollment.
